Overview
The Pontine Islands are the least known and most surprising destinations in the Tyrrhenian. Ponza's coloured houses descend to the port like a Greek amphitheatre — the coves of Chiaia di Luna and the Piscina Naturale are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. Palmarola is deserted, the 'Lampedusa of the north'. Ventotene, once a place of exile, is today a protected marine reserve.
