Yacht Charter Mykonos
Yacht charter at Mykonos — Delos, Rhenia and the anchorages the day boats miss.
Mykonos from a yacht is a different island from Mykonos on foot. The south-coast beach clubs all take arrivals by tender, the crossing to Delos takes twenty minutes rather than a scheduled boat, and when the town fills up you are already anchored somewhere it has not reached.
Delos and Rhenia
Delos, twenty minutes west, is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Mediterranean — the mythological birthplace of Apollo, and an entire ancient city with almost no modern building on it.
Rhenia, immediately beside it, is uninhabited and has the best swimming in this part of the Cyclades. Most day boats visit Delos and leave; a yacht can do the ruins in the morning and Rhenia for the afternoon.
The south coast
Psarou, Ornos, Paraga and Super Paradise all have tender services. Arriving from the water avoids the road, which in August is the main reason people give up on the island.
Practical notes
- Delos is twenty minutes; Paros and Naxos two to three hours
- The meltemi blows hard here in July and August — expect the captain to reorder days
- Berths in the new marina are limited; anchoring plus tender is normal
- Mykonos airport has direct flights from most of Europe in season

- Can we visit Delos by yacht?
- Yes, and it is the reason to be here on a boat. Twenty minutes from Mykonos, with Rhenia alongside for swimming once you have walked the site.
- How bad is the wind in August?
- The meltemi can blow force six or seven for several days. It does not stop a well-found yacht with a professional crew, but it does reorder the itinerary — and anyone promising a fixed plan in August is not being straight with you.
